Hocking Hills
- Ash Cave So
what's so special about the area around our accommodations?
Ravenwood Castle is located right in the heart of the
Hocking Hills Region and only a ten minute drive from
Hocking Hills State Park. Hocking Hills State Park offers
outdoor adventures including 25 miles of hiking trails,
naturalist programs year-around and plenty of sights to see.
Once
such area is Ash
Cave - one of
six major hiking areas in the Hocking Hills State Park trail
system. It is the largest recess cave in the State of
Ohio and features a paved hiking trail that is stroller and
wheelchair accessible, a cascading waterfall and unique rock
formations.
There is an upper
and lower trail at Ash Cave, each one approximately a 1/2
mile long. The lower trail is wheelchair accessible along a
paved sidewalk ending in the large sandy region of the
recess cave. It takes approximately a 1/2 hour to hike the
trail.
The upper section is
a little more rugged and takes 40 minutes to an hour to
complete.
