One of the things we enjoy most about our murder mysteries is coming up with new themes for the Ravenwood Detective Agency to explore. Over the years we’ve built up a great catalog of settings, and many of them are just too much fun to limit to one adventure. So we occasionally revisit a theme, and sometimes even a particular storyline. Such is the case with our next Murder Mystery weekend, which is a continuation of a brand new theme launched at the end of last season…

A year ago a group of treasure hunters gathered at Ravenwood Castle. Armed with a sense of adventure and an ancient pirate map, they hoped to discover the long lost treasure of Captain Ravenbeard. The weekend took a dark twist, as one of their own was found murdered, ostensibly by the legendary pirate himself. After a thorough investigation the actual murderer – very much alive and very much not a pirate – was uncovered. Both their ancient map and their sense of adventure in tatters, the surviving treasure hunters departed for home in the hope of putting their harrowing experience behind them.

But the passage of time can be a funny thing. It dulls some memories, and sharpens others. In the year since the incident the members of our group have often found themselves looking at the remaining pieces of their map. During that time the yearning to find the long lost treasure has grown, while the memories of the terrifying events of that weekend have faded. So it is that we find our treasure hunters returning to Ravenwood Castle, intent on finally solving the mystery of the map.

But some things are not meant to be, and some memories should not be allowed to fade. As if reliving a nightmare, our group once again finds themselves gathered in the Great Hall, standing over one of their own, found dead next to a bloody cutlass and a handwritten note. The note, in now familiar handwriting, reads: “Ye bilge rats should nay have returned! Ye’ve shown yer true colours, and ye’ll find neither treasure nor quarter from me!”

Was it possible that a 200 year dead pirate was out to get the treasure hunters? Or is there a more mundane explanation to the continued murders? Is the long lost treasure really real? The Ravenwood Detective Agency is calling all agents, pirates and privateers to answer these questions and more!

Join us November 8^th & 9^th for Captain Ravenbeard’s Revenge. Tickets for Captain Ravenbeard’s Revenge are $100, and include Saturday night’s dinner. As with all of our mysteries, the event starts with dinner on the first night. Late arrivals will be accommodated as best as possible, but to enjoy the full experience please attempt to arrive early Friday evening.
