This week’s blog post is written by our Assistant Innkeeper, Abby Kutscher, and shines the Room Spotlight on the Woodcutter’s Cottage.

The beauty of Ravenwood Castle is accentuated by the acres of forest surrounding it. Many of our guests visit because of our proximity to Hocking Hills State Forest and Parks. If you love the forest and being surrounded by nature, then do yourself a favor and check out the Woodcutter’s Cottage.

The Woodcutter’s Cottage is nestled in the center of our Medieval Village, and is a favorite among our guests and staff alike. The cottage features rustic wooden accents, and a front door framed by rough-hewn log pillars. The door opens onto a kitchenette with ample counter and cupboard space as well as a mini-fridge, coffee-maker, and microwave. To the right of the kitchenette is the bathroom, which boasts a large whirlpool jet bathtub and shower.

The back of the cottage is filled with a sizable bedroom with vast ceilings crisscrossed with salvaged wooden beams. The centerpiece of the room is the king size bed, which features a massive rustic wooden headboard. Two side chairs next to the window are made entirely from twigs, and the walls are decorated with lovely nature photographs taken right here in Southeastern Ohio.

A sitting area rounds out the room. A gas fireplace disguised as an old wood-burning stove is located next to the couch, making this a cozy place to enjoy some entertainment; whether that be a movie, a good book, or a family board game.

Off the back of the Woodcutter’s cottage is a full length balcony with one of the best views on the property. Whether you are looking out at a lush green forest, snow-laden branches, a multitude of colored leaves, or a sky full of stars, you are sure to feel completely surrounded by the majesty of nature.
