COVID-19 Update – Responsible Restart

Dear Ravenwood Castle Guests,

By now, you have likely heard that Governor DeWine has announced his Responsible Restart Ohio program. Under this program, businesses in many categories will begin operating again as soon as May 1st.

As a hotel and lodging facility, Ravenwood Castle is listed as an essential business, and has actually been allowed to operate under all of Governor DeWine’s closure orders. Even so, we chose to voluntarily suspend operations on March 23rd in order to comply with what we believed was the spirit and intent behind the Governor’s order. Now that businesses are being allowed to begin operations once again, we will be doing our best to do so in a responsible manner.

After careful consideration and consultation with the local Health Department, we have decided that effective Friday, May 1st, Ravenwood Castle will resume limited operations, and will be welcoming guests back to our property. In order to comply with the Responsible Restart program, and ensure the health and safety of both our staff and guests, we will be implementing several changes to our normal operations. These include:

Food Service

As in-person dining is still restricted by the Governor’s order, we will not be offering any food or beverage service within the Great Hall and the Raven’s Roost Pub. Breakfast will continue to be available with all reservations, it will simply be made available in a take-out manner. Similarly, the Raven’s Roost Pub will continue to offer our menu of pub fare for both lunch and dinner, also in a take-out format. Finally, it is our expectation that the several restaurants which currently deliver to Ravenwood Castle, such as Mama Renie’s Pizza, will continue to do so. With these options available, you will continue to be able to enjoy your secluded getaway at Ravenwood Castle, while enjoying your meals in the comfort and privacy of your own suite, cottage or cabin.

Masks and Social Distancing

The first protocol in Responsible Restart is “No mask, no work, no service, no exception.” In order to comply with this all Ravenwood Castle staff will be wearing face masks while on duty. We will also be requiring guests to wear face masks while interacting with our staff, namely during check in and check out, and when ordering and picking up food and beverage items. Please endeavor to bring your own mask when arriving for your reservation. We will attempt to have extra masks, but can not guarantee availability.

We will also be requiring social distancing in the common areas and when interacting with staff. This will take the form of limiting groups from gathering in the common areas, as well as limiting the number of people allowed into the office at one time to check in or check out. Please see signage on site for details.

Cleanliness, Sanitization and Hygiene

The remainder of the Responsible Restart protocols focus on cleanliness, sanitization and hygiene. As a matter of routine, Ravenwood Castle takes the cleanliness of our accommodations, common areas and property as a whole very seriously. As such we already follow strict guidelines and procedures to ensure that cleanliness. Out of an abundance of caution, we will be implementing an even stricter cleaning regimen, as well as several additional measures to minimize risk, including the frequent cleaning and sanitization of common areas, public bathrooms and other high touch surfaces.

We are excited to begin operating again, and look forward to welcoming our guests back to – responsibly – enjoy our property. We will continue monitoring developments, and will provide further announcements as we have additional information.
