The Case of The Deadly Divining

As I sit here to write today’s blog, I’m having a hard time believing that we’re nearly halfway through 2020. Be that as it may, the calendar marches on and summer has in fact arrived. With it, as always, comes the first announcements for the Ravenwood Castle Fall event season!

We have a great lineup of events being planned – but perhaps the most anticipated are the final few Shadow Stalkers Murder Mysteries! That’s right, we are now entering the final season of murder mysteries which will include that nice Mr. Denham and his team from the Shadow Stalkers. There are only six of these mysteries left, and they are sure to fill fast! Don’t worry, the Ravenwood Detective Agency is not retiring, we’ll continue hosting mystery weekends at the castle for a long time to come. That being said, the Shadow Stalkers mysteries hold a special place in our heart, as we know they do in yours. So without further ado, I bring you the first in the final season of Shadow Stalkers mysteries – The Case of the Deadly Divining!

The past few years have been troubling for the Ravenwood School of Myth and Magic. The otherwise peaceful school has been rocked by a series of most unfortunate events, including the magical murder of an unpopular professor, followed by mystical mayhem caused by a traveling peddler of – apparently cursed – magical curiosities. The new Headmaster is bound and determined that this year will be different. This year will be completely calm, and mundane. Well, as mundane as a magical academy can be that is.

It started out well. At least, the first few hours of classes seemed to go well, right up until the first session of Divination for Novices. Intent on demonstrating his art, the Divinations professor called upon a student to volunteer a question. One young student raised her hand, and whispered a question into the Professor’s ear. The Professor turned to his crystal ball and began his divination. A short pause. A look of surprise on the Professor’s face. And then the Professor keeled over, deader than the proverbial doorknob.

The initial investigation suggests that the Professor’s death is far from natural, and most likely connected to the divination itself. Unfortunately, in the chaos that followed the incident the young student who provided the question seems to have vanished.

Was the Divination Professor the victim of an unfortunate accident, or something more sinister? What happened to the student who volunteered the question – and just what was the question she posed? Could someone wish to keep it unanswered badly enough to commit magical murder?

The Ravenwood Detective Agency is calling all agents, witches and wizards to investigate the incident. Join us September 11th & 12th for the Case of the Deadly Divining!

Tickets for the Case of the Deadly Divining are $100*, and include Saturday night’s dinner. As with all of our mysteries, the event starts with dinner on the first night. Late arrivals will be accommodated as best as possible, but to enjoy the full experience please attempt to arrive early Friday evening.

Stay tuned for more announcements for the 2020-2021 murder mystery season!

If you haven’t been to one of our mystery weekends and are wondering what they are all about, check out our Murder Mystery page for all of the details. And stay tuned here at Quoth the Raven to hear about the rest of the great mysteries we have planned for this season!

* We are in the process of changing our booking engine, and with the new engine will come a change to our event tickets. Rather than being broken separately on your reservation, your event tickets and event meals will be included in a package along with your room, and will be reflected in your room rate. Please note that this does not reflect a change in our pricing – all rooms and events remain at the same prices as in 2019, they are just being displayed differently. If you have any questions about your reservation rate, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be glad to assist.
