If you’re looking for a cozy winter retreat, there’s no better place than our December Beer Tasting Weekend. This year we’re excited to welcome two standout Ohio breweries: Parsons North Brewing Co. and Yellow Springs Brewery. Let’s explore more about these breweries and what makes them special.

Friday Night – Parsons North Brewing Co.

On Friday night we will be joined by Nathan Klein, Owner and Director of Operations of Parsons North Brewing Co. Parsons is led by Nathan who founded the brewery alongside business partner Seth, the mastermind behind their beer creations. Seth, a homebrewing enthusiast, turned his passion into what is now a staple of the Columbus craft beer scene when he reconnected with Nathan through mutual friends.

Nathan shared more about the wide selection of beers they offer guests at the brewery. “This allows us to showcase many different styles to people who are a little timid about craft beer. Once they realize they like a particular style they didn’t think they would, we recommend a lot of other breweries in town who may specialize in that so they can go further down the rabbit hole.”

“I love to chat with all kinds of folks and absorb as much new information as possible,” Nathan says. The brewery works hard to create a space where craft beer novices and aficionados alike can come together. Their Kölsch, a beloved German-style beer, stands out as a fan favorite and if you’re joining us in December, you’ll get to try it for yourself!

Saturday Night – Yellow Springs Brewery

Yellow Springs Brewery shares a similar story of passion turned profession. Founded by Nate Cornett and Lisa Wolters, this brewery has become a destination for beer lovers across the state. Originally a homebrewer, Nate took his hobby to the next level, opening the brewery in 2013 with the help of the original head brewer, Jeffrey McElfresh. Yellow Springs Brewery has since blossomed into a thriving business with multiple taproom locations. On Saturday,  Yellow Springs Brewery’s COO and former Head Brewer Jayson Hartings will be leading guests through dinner.

Yellow Springs Brewery excels in creating great beers while focusing on community and collaboration. From releasing limited-edition offerings to working with non-profits, they embody the spirit of craft brewing as a way to bring people together. “The craft beer industry feels like more of a community than an industry in many ways, and that feeling is very evident anytime we are doing a collaboration with another brewery,” Jayson says.

Boat Show IPA, their most popular beer, showcases their expertise and accounts for over 65% of their sales! It’s an approachable and drinkable IPA that has plenty of hop flavor, but not much bitterness. As a guest of the Beer Tasting Weekend, you’ll get to try Boat Show IPA as the Welcome Beer!
